Key Steps for Servicing Crawl Spaces and Attics
ATMOX recommends a periodic maintenance inspections. Conditions in and around the home are always changing.
Check the ATMOX Display
Power Connection
If the display screen is not showing any readings, it most likely has no electrical power and is not operating. In this case, see if something is unplugged or make sure that the outlet being used by the controller has power. It is possible for the controller to operate independently of the display for several days.
System Alerts
If there is an alert, then the system may not be operating or may be notifying you of another potential issue. Homeowners should check periodically to make sure that the display has no alerts needing attention.
Alert Lights
Check for notifications or alerts on the system indicating a potential issue within the crawl space/attic or a system component. This will help identify any type of hardware problem.
Display Data
Take a look at the temperature and humidity information. Are they in reasonable ranges? When evaluating these readings keep in mind what time of the year it is. These readings may vary depending on the season and your location. If optional sensor installed, wood moisture is a good indication of the moisture level in the crawl space/attic. This will vary by season but gives you the best information on moisture conditions.
Test and Inspect ATMOX Components
Fan Operation
ATMOX fans (particularly in a crawl space environment) should periodically be brushed off lightly to keep debris from blocking ventilation. The display may not give a notification if any single fan or group of fans are not operating. Fans should periodically be checked for operation.
Testing ATMOX Components
As part of your crawl space/attic inspection, manually test the components that are installed in your home. Use the test mode to check components.
Steps for Testing on APEX or APEX 2.0 Attic Controller:
- Open the Settings Menu by pressing the Home Button. Scroll forward to the Testing Screens.
- ATTIC FAN TESTING (Red Output) This starts all components wired to Red/Black. All Fans will be turned on. Physically inspect the fans in the attic to ensure that each fan is functioning.
- LIGHT TESTING (Green Output) This starts all components wired to Green/Black. The Lights will be turned on. You can generally see very quickly whether or not the lights are working.
Steps for Testing on ACE or ACE 2.0 Crawl Space Controller:
- Open the Settings Menu by pressing the Home Button. Scroll forward to the Testing Screens.
- EXHAUST AND INTAKE FAN TESTING (Red Output) This starts all components wired to Red/Black. The Exhaust and Intake Fans will be turned on. Physically inspect the fans by walking around the house to ensure that each fan is functioning.
- INTERNAL FAN TESTING (Orange Output) This starts all components wired to Orange/Black. The Internal Fans will be turned on. Physically inspect the fans by crawling into the crawl space to ensure that each fan is functioning.
- DEHUMIDIFIER TESTING (Yellow Output) This starts all components wired to Yellow/Black. The Dehumidifier will be turned on. Physically inspect the dehumidifier by crawling into the crawl space to ensure that it is functioning. You should also check any condensate pumps or other products.
- LIGHT TESTING (Green Output) This starts all components wired to Green/Black. The Lights will be turned on. You can generally see very quickly whether or not the lights are working.
Dehumidifier Maintenance
If a dehumidifier is installed, follow the guidelines from the dehumidifier manufacturer with regard to filter replacement or cleaning.
