dew point

Dew point is a critical measurement in moisture control because it tells you when condensation will occur. When surfaces cool below the dew point temperature, moisture from the air condenses into water droplets—leading to mold, wood rot, corrosion, and musty odors. Unlike humidity or temperature alone, dew point provides a more accurate picture of the risk for condensation. That’s why ATMOX systems use dew point calculations to guide fan and dehumidifier operation. With sensors inside and outside the crawl space or attic, the system compares dew point values to determine when ventilation will dry the space—or when it could actually make things worse. This smart use of dew point ensures energy-efficient operation while protecting the structure and indoor air quality. Understanding and monitoring dew point is the foundation of intelligent moisture control and helps homeowners and installers make informed decisions.

Mold in the Crawl Space

Excess moisture often leads to mold in crawl space areas, creating problems that homeowners can’t ignore. When wood, insulation, or other materials stay damp, mold spores have the conditions they need to thrive. This damp environment doesn’t just create musty odors...
